A Legacy Reborn on Exchequer Street

Welcome to Fitzers Bistro & Bar on Exchequer Street – a new chapter in a Dublin story that has been more than 75 years in the making. This isn’t just our newest restaurant; it’s the culmination of a father’s dream, the journey of a dedicated Dublin family, and a deep-rooted passion for exceptional Irish food and genuine Irish hospitality that first took seed in 1949.

We invite you to discover the rich heritage, personal commitment, and pioneering spirit that shapes every dish we serve and every warm welcome you receive at Fitzers.

It Started With a Vision
The Dream of Fitzers

The Fitzers story began in 1949 with a bold vision. Frank Fitzpatrick Senior established a pioneering fruit, vegetable, wholefood, and delicatessen wholesale business on Camden Street. It was a hub of quality and innovation throughout Dublin, but for Frank Snr., it was always intended as a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal – to one day open a welcoming restaurant in the heart of Dublin.

Our Family's Foundation
Raised in a Trade

Growing up surrounded by Dublin’s finest produce, Frank Snr.’s nine children were truly raised in the trade. Working alongside their father in the bustling Camden Street business, the family developed a deep-rooted and enduring passion for fabulous local Irish produce – a passion that would shape their future for decades to come.

This hands-on upbringing instilled a unique understanding of quality and service that became the hallmark of the Fitzers name throughout Dublin’s restaurant scene.

Decades of Dublin Hospitality
A Legacy Continued

Though Frank Fitzpatrick Senior sadly passed in 1975 before realising his dream, his innovative spirit and dedication to quality inspired his children to forge their own path in Dublin’s hospitality scene. In 1979, the family opened their first restaurant in Camden Street, followed by many other renowned Fitzers establishments across the city – from Dawson Street to Temple Bar, the RDS to The Point – and a highly successful Catering Company.

It’s built on a foundation of ‘Food and Family with Provenance’ and our belief that every meal we serve is an honour to his memory and your trust.
